Voodoo for Galaxy S is easy to use and that’s why it’s documentation is extremely short (and why you should read it)
After installing Voodoo, you may want to try another Firmware or revert to the stock kernel.
Because new firmwares or stock kernels don’t understand Ext4 partition or filesystem, a fully automatic re-conversion to RFS and the exact “data” settings from the default configuration is included.
To archive the revert to RFS operation, you need to complete 2 operations :
- Create a file or folder named “disable lagfix” in a a directory named “Voodoo” in your internal SD card.
- Reboot
Done !
If you forgot to read this giant documentation and installed another Kernel or Firmware without disabling lagfix first, well… that’s too bad, but it’s repairable by 2 options:
- Re-installing Voodoo by flashing the Kernel with Odin: Your ext4 data will be back if the previous procedure dind’t format DATA partition
- Starting into recovery and wipe data. Warning, like it says, you’ll loose your personal data. If you don’t have backup, use this option in last resort.
If you need to disable it without having access to your screen (ex: screen broken, you need to send it back to a repair center) here is what you need to do:
adb shell ">/sdcard/Voodoo/disable-lagfix"
I will also suggest that you revert to the original stock firmware before sending it back.
Known Issues:
- Some broken CSC published with unofficial leaked Firmwares don’t do their job properly during the installation phase, and some rare user affected saw Wifi entering in sleep only a long time after the sleep state, or not entering sleep because of the mail App preventing it.
This issue don’t appear with proven stables Firmwares. - Kies don’t see the phone when you’re in Ext4 mode. You’ll need to “disable lagfix” before Kies see it.
- Some rare H264 videos don’t display, the video output is pure black (related to an unknown problem in current Samsung Linux Kernel released)
- ClockWorkMod recovery don’t work or install when you are in optimized Ext4 mode. Author has been contacted.
- With some recent leaked unofficial Firmwares on GT-I9000 (JM7, JM8), rare problem can occur that will affect your battery life. We know 3 of them.
- An unknown service spamming the kernel with binder messages, preventing the phone to go to sleep and provoking excessive battery usage (detectable by Android OS high in battery stats)
- A bug in mediaserver which automatically respawn and cause battery usage (detectable by mediaserver high in battery stats)
- A bug triggered by some leaked CSC (Country Specific Code) files causing the Wifi not entering in sleep mode.If you run an official firmware like JM1 or previous JF3, there is no such problem. JM5 is fine too.
