Color, Super AMOLED color and sharpness optimizations | Project Voodoo, Galaxy S improvements

Voodoo Color is a pack of high quality adjustments for Galaxy S screen.
The screen technology used is Super AMOLED.

Color Temperature adjustment:

The Galaxy S screen is great, but it’s blueish. Fortunately, this is not a hardware limitation and Voodoo color restores a standard color temperature to get rid of the blue tint on every display.

This feature is currently unfinished and only the “100%” brightness setting has been tuned. More to come in the next versions.

Sharpness Optimization:

By default, Galaxy S use a very strong sharpness filter to improve the readability of text. Unfortunately, the settings used create visible halos around shapes and text.
In Voodoo color, this sharpness filter is reworked to obtain perfect readability of text and punchy images without halos.

Your eyes will love these new settings.

New brightness settings:

Two new settings appear in Voodoo beta2: (work in progress)

The reworked 100% brightness setting, which provide a higher global brightness + an accurate color balance
An exclusive low brightness setting auto-driven by ambient light or accessible manually.
Ideal for dark conditions like when you’re in bed.

I recommend the excellent widget named Brightness Level by Curvefish. Its a very handy tool to manage auto or manual levels.

Color and Sharpness in Videos:

The Galaxy S screen is a dream for every video lover. Its incredible contrast ratio combined with the new hardware used for the new Super AMOLED hardware used gives an incredible contrast ratio and provides images that every LCD user forgot were possible
In the stock configuration, several filters are applied successively on the video signal and every one of them is far from the high quality that this beautiful hardware deserves.

Voodoo color bypass some and set adequate settings to these filters, replacing DNIe settings with highly tuned parameters that produce incredible results on all videos.
Useless Warm and Cold “Colour tones” are replaced by presets you’ll be able to choose to improve your viewing experience.

Normal setting, used by default provide some sharpening and a super light color vibrance & saturation boost. It’s adequate for most videos and make everything look nice.
Warm setting becomes a boost mode: Color vibrance & saturation level is increased to produce the “WOW” effect everyone love. Sharpness is more aggressive too and will make soft videos more enjoyable
Cold setting becomes a soft mode: Colors are untouched and sharpness filter is disabled too, this preset is very useful for noisy videos.
